Context and overview
The Nukini people continually seek to strengthen their social organisation, autonomy and food security. Deterioration of the association headquarters’ roof and limited space in the community kitchen hindered assemblies, village governance and food preparation for community events.
Through this Conexão Ancestral project, the community completed the revitalisation of its social infrastructure, securing safe, functional and dignified spaces for collective management and preservation of traditions.
Impact in numbers
- 1 Association Headquarters Fully Renovated: complete revitalisation of the roof, including timber replacement and installation of galvanised sheets and thatch.
- 3 Linear Metres of Extension: expansion of the community kitchen’s usable area with a new concrete floor.
- 1 Large Masonry Wood-Burning Stove: a structure built to support collective events and continuous food preparation.
- 1 Annex/Materials Room Built: a dedicated space for storing, preserving and organising supplies, food stocks and community equipment.
